Do I need to reserve my spot ahead of time?
No. Upon arrival you will check in and let them know you’re with the DropitCanYa 6 Gathering. (Very important for you to let them know that at check-in)
What is the cost to camp? If we want to get a hotel, and not camp, what is that cost?
Camping is $25 a night per person. All campers must be 18 years old to camp without being accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If you are getting a hotel, and just wanting a day pass, that’s just $15.
What is the "theme" this year, and why?
his years theme is UPCYCLE. Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value. (In this case, ART!) We will have ARTISTS doing live demonstrations and interactive fun with up-cycled materials. Don’t throw those water bottles away! Bring ’em to the pavilion! Google ideas for up-cycling
Will there be a contest this year for best theme inspired camp?!
YES! We encourage everyone to get into the spirit and decorate their camp! Winners will be chosen on Sunday
Will there be food and alcohol for sale?
We will have 2 grills fired up at the pavilion and food is on a donation basis. Make sure you bring your own alcohol. The nearest store to the springs is about 20 minutes.
Can we have a campfire in our camp?
Yes. Every campsite has a campfire and grill. We will have a larger community bonfire by the pavilion though, at night for everyone to enjoy.
Can we park by our camp/tent?
The area of dogwood has a parking area, and you would park and then find your spot on the river. There is no through car traffic in that area. However it is a very short distance. There is, though, a camp area next to the dogwood spring that you can pull your car right up to your camp. Also a very short walk away, and close to the showers/restrooms.
Will there be music everyday and for how long?
We encourage everyone to arrive on Thursday, but that will be a day to get set up. We will have music starting at 7pm Thursday until 1am.. Noon until 1am Friday, 10am until 1am Saturday, and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.
How many stages will you have this year?
We will have 1 area of sound in a big pavilion in Dogwood Spring.
Will there be any activities going on?
We will have a treasure/scavenger hunt starting on Friday, where you will download our app and go hunt for treasures and/or take specific pictures and grab items around all the springs. We will announce the app as we get closer. Many prizes for the winners, and so much group fun! The app is interactive also! There is also a sandy beach volleyball area set up in Dogwood Spring directly across the pavilion where the music will be, and we will have light up beach balls for night time fun as well. Tubing on the river and/or just floating on the river by the music is highly encouraged as well as snorkeling in the springs and down the river. Sunset yoga will also be happening on Friday and Saturday. Interactive ART areas too!!!
Will it be too cold to swim?
The springs are 70 degrees year round. The Santa Fe River will be warmer during the day when the sun is out. Projected temperature during Dec. 7,8,9,10th is in the high 70’s during the day, and high 50’s at night. (Perfect night time hoodie weather!)
Are pets allowed?
Nope! Sorry, but leave your furry ones at home. Ginnie Springs does not allow pets.
Will you have DropItCanYa shirts for sale this year?
YES! We will have hoodies, t-shirts and tanks for sale! Limited supply, so get yours fast!
Will there be vendors again this year?
Unfortunately, Ginnie does not allow vendors at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.
If we have our scuba certification, can we dive in the caves?
No. You have to have a specific “CAVE DIVING” certification to enter the caves, however you are allowed to snorkel in and around them. Just be aware of your surroundings. People come in from all around the world to cave dive, so try not to get in their way. There are sometimes classes being taught as well for people getting their dive certifications.
If we missed anything, please post your questions in here so we can get them answered asap!
As always, we look forward to our 6th year anniversary with all of you! Want to get more involved?
